Skip the Birthday Card & Try These Creative Gift Options Instead

As a real estate agent, it's important to stay in touch with clients, especially on their birthday. If you're tired of sending birthday cards every year, consider the options below and your clients won't soon forget you.

The better you know your past clients (keep notes in your CRM system), the easier it will be to get creative when birthdays roll around. If you're sending birthday wishes to local clients, consider delivering them yourself or have an assistant do it (talk about leave an impression!). Let's take a look at some personal gift options your client will cherish.

REPL Birthday GiftsGift Box

A birthday gift box doesn't have to be extravagant or expensive. Consider sending a small box with a pre-packaged treat, coffee card, and some confetti. No matter how big or small, the gesture will make a positive impression.

Book

If you've got a client who's a bookworm, consider sending them a book which reflects their reading style. Not sure which book would be best? Buy a gift card from a nearby bookstore or even Amazon.

Movie Passes

If your client enjoys going to the movies, put a couple of movie passes in the mail or send them digital tickets. If you can deliver the gift in person, consider putting the tickets or gift certificate in a popcorn container full of popcorn or other movie goodies.

Birthday Cake

Who doesn't love a birthday cake? Check with your favorite local bakery to see if they can make a small or single-serving cake. If your client has kids, consider cake pops.

Dinner

When you've got special clients that you don't mind splurging on, consider taking them out to dinner. Too much? How about lunch or buying them a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant?

Ice Cream

It might be challenging to send ice cream through the mail (options do exist) so consider local ice cream establishments near your client's home. Purchase a gift certificate and include a personal note, "Maybe I'll see you at the Ice Cream Hut this summer. Happy Birthday!".

Massage

If you have a client who is a massage lover, consider a gift certificate to their favorite spa. If you go to the same gym, and they offer massage, consider the convenience of booking a massage there. Even a simple manicure or pedicure can make a lasting impression on your client.

Minimalist Approach

If you have clients who don't want or need physical gifts, consider donating to their favorite charity. For example, if they're pet lovers, donate to a pet shelter in their area or purchase pet food and have it delivered to the shelter (some shelters have specific types of food they need so visit their website to learn more). You can even put the donation under their name.

Conclusion

There are a variety of ways you can celebrate your real estate client's birthday without sending a traditional card. As you work with clients, jot down their hobbies, habits and favorite places and it will be easy to choose the ideal gift and make a lasting impression on their special day. Along the way, you may acquire some new clients through referrals.  P.S. Don't forget to include a handwritten note.
